Josh Tubb is a Tupelo-native who came to BankTEL in 2005 as a junior programmer. BankTEL was his first job out of Itawamba Community College, where he graduated as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the school’s own Hall of Fame. Now Josh is the company’s Principal Engineer.
Josh likes the diversity of his position as Principal Engineer. He plays a major role in determining if client suggestions become software enhancements, to be included in BankTEL’s quarterly software updates. Josh is constantly working on improving Ascend, ensuring that the software is user-friendly, regulatory-compliant and compatible with the latest electronic payment platforms.
Early in his career, Josh learned that he preferred development over IT. He enjoys the challenge of writing code that allows users to get from point A to point B, and he appreciates the freedom to try new things, implement his own ideas and integrate client ideas. “The sales team’s goal is to give every customer exactly what they want, and that leaves me with a good variety of work,” he says.
When Josh started at BankTEL, the company had only a handful of employees. The entire staff worked closely on every project, and from the beginning, Josh felt like his colleagues were more than co-workers—they were family members. This is part of what fuels his commitment to BankTEL and his dedication to its customers.
When he’s not working, Josh spends his time, playing, practicing or coaching Little League with his two young sons.
